Education & Church Life

Crossroaders bring a spirit of creativity, joy, action, and collaboration to the life of our church. Here are some examples of what you might find happening throughout the year. Please contact members of our Mission Teams if you would like to get involved in any of our ministries.

ADULT EDUCATION

Held immediately prior to the Sunday worship service, these classes explore a wide range of topics, from individual faith journeys of participants, to the study of contemporary theology, to lessons on estate planning and “safe” ways to fall as we age. We welcome a variety of engaging speakers from around the world and our local community.

CARE TEAM

Care Team volunteers, in conjunction with Project Dana, call on the phone or pay in-person visits to home-bound persons and others, provide respite for family members, write and send cards, run errands, provide rides to doctors and to church, help with shopping, and try in general to be “a friend indeed” for those in need.

EASTER BREAKFAST

The men of Crossroads rally every Easter Morning to cook and serve a pancake breakfast (one option has chocolate chips!) to the gathered community, prior to worship and the popular Easter egg hunt for keiki and youth.

FALL FAIR

Our annual fall fair is a wonderful time for all ages to come together on our campus and raise money for our church programs and community partners. You will often find booths for face painting, games, plant sales, baked goods, pottery, mango chutney, crafts, a children’s bouncy house, a rummage sale, a silent auction, delicious noodles, sushi, huli huli chicken, and more!

NEIGHBORHOOD HUI

Potluck gatherings by geographic location for food and fellowship, community building, talk-story, disaster preparedness, problem-solving, church planning, and other neighborhood-based conversations. The pandemic led to the creation of a “Cosmic Bamboo Hui,” comprised of off-island members and friends who gather online.

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION & SPONSORS

Are you interested in officially joining our church? We have a membership team to host “Inquirer’s Gatherings” prior to joining. These include sessions sharing your faith journey, learning about Crossroads and about our denomination, the United Church of Christ. New members often join the church on Pentecost Sunday. New member sponsors help to connect your passions to the ministries and people of Crossroads.
